After watching the You Tube videos on technology integration (Click on link below), respond to the following questions:
1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?

1. The QR codes were the most interesting piece of technology on these videos to me since I have so little experience with them to date! Combine QR codes and ipads/pods and at least a projector if not a smartboard and all that time that would be wasted on copying what the teacher writes on the board can be put to better use as time to actually learn.
ReplyDeleteThe ipads/pods are also tools that I would love to incorporate into my own classroom someday if I'm blessed enough to have the funds for them. With educational apps, they can serve so many purposes and can be used to cover all the content areas.
2. Technology is so much a part of everyday life to children and teachers alike. To leave it out is like trying to take these 21st century kids back to the 20th century. It makes their education irrelevant to them and it also prevents you the teacher from teaching them to the best of your ability. Technology can serve almost as many functions as you can imagine and can save so much time in the process, giving you more time to cover more material.

Delete1. I think the QR codes were cool and interesting. I can envision using technolgy like this in my classroom. I must confess that I'm requiring myself to become more technologically savvy to accomadate the learning desires of young students. My central focus is to be well organized and have a lesson that is very fluid, but not to the point were I'm hurrying through the lesson due classroom management mishaps of time. I definitely do not want to be disorganized during a lesson using because I do not want to lessen the attention of my student's focus when it comes to learning.
Delete2. I would agree with you on the point you clearly made about without having the technological tools available in the classroom today, the setback on instructing our students will be surely a henderance to them learning in this new age. I do not think that it will make learning irrelevant, it would only impede the student's ability to be engaged more excitedly, therefore, making them become more dis-interested in the lesson your are teaching at the time.
I would like to know how they used the wii play in their class. But I think the green board is the coolest and maybe the most flexible tool they showed that also allowed the children the most interactivity. I also liked how the Ipad is able to sync with the smart board so that the teacher can model his practices without obstructing the view of the board and taking attention away from the lesson. In my class i believe that the Ipad would be the most advanced tool right now that i can implement into my classroom.
ReplyDeleteTeachers should use technology in their class because it is what the students are comfortable with. as teachers we need to adapt our teaching styles to meet the needs of the student in an efficient manner. traditional teaching styles are becoming less effective, so to keep students interested in the material we need to meet them where they are on a mental standard.
1. The technology that I found the most interesting in this video was that students were using green screens and performing digital presentations. This is great to incorporate into your classroom because it is important that children learn how to use this at an early age. It can be beneficial for many reasons such as making a video, learning how to use the computers, cameras, camcorders, iPods, etc.
ReplyDelete2.I found that all of the technology used throughout the video was beneficial. In today's world technology has become the source of communication as just an every day way of living. Children rarely play outside anymore, now they play video games, Wii, on the computer, Ipads, iPods etc. It is our job as educators to get on the student's level and to incorporate differentiated instruction in order to accommodate every child's needs. We should try to infuse as much technology as possible into daily instruction because technology is a daily way of living for today's children. We have to find things that interest them in order to teach them and technology is a great way to do that.
1. I enjoyed hoe the teacher puts up a Q code for the students in the morning, this starts the day off with a short movie. QR codes are a great tool for teaching, not only in school but also outside the classroom like in a museum. I thought writing on the iPads was also a great tool, student could see on the smart board if their work was correct. In the second video I saw a lot of iPods being used, this is great tool on a lower budget. IPods are small and can be utilized in many ways, as seen in the video. My only problem as of right now is that I am not as computer savvy as most kids nowadays. This means for me that I need to play catch up with the kids.
ReplyDelete2. Technology is not just the future, but utilized everywhere today. This means that we as teachers have to prepare our students to be more digital enhanced than we needed to be in our time. More books, magazine, and even instructions are online than being printed. Communication is done through emails, twitter ,or texting; all this demonstrates that technology has taken a major role in our lives. As teachers we have to teach students how to utilize this world correctly. I think that by using technology in our classrooms we will encourage and keep more students interested in school, than by just lecturing.
The most interesting technology i found with these videos will also have to be the QR codes. This technology can be used in many way and any subject. It gives the kids an interactive yet fun way of learning new materials or practice. We as teachers should try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction because our technology is advancing and kids are much more used to this so the best way to teach them is to incorporate something they all like and use most of the time. and this is also a way for kids to learn while having fun.
ReplyDeleteAll of the technology used in these videos were very beneficial. The ones that stood out to me the most however were the use of the iPad's, and the use of the interactive boards. I liked the iPads because it is a good tool to get the students to be interested and engaged in the work they are doing, to the point where they don't even realize that they are learning because they are so interested in what the were doing. The interactive board is a great way to incorporate technology in whole class lessons. The visuals, and the hands on experiences is another great way to keep the class focused and engaged in the work they are doing, plus it is also a great source to be able to keep track of how the students are doing. We as teachers should infuse as much technology in our daily instruction because we are in the 21st century, and since technology is expanding so rapidly, most students have already been exposed to these types of technology. Even those who haven't would still enjoy learning using different types of technology. Teaching students in a way that interest them is a great and effective way to get learning done.
ReplyDelete1. To begin with, I absolutely LOVED Mr. Crouch's classroom! I really would love to go to his classroom just to watch him teach with all the technology he incorporates into his classroom! The IPad is a great tool to use in the classroom because so many things can be done with it. In the other clip I saw the IPod being used to check fluency with sight words. I thought that was such a great idea! I would definitely use technology such as this in my classroom if I have access to these devices!
ReplyDelete2. We should try to infuse as much technology in our instruction as possible because technology is the big "thing" in the 21st century. Technology is what grabs the attention of our students today. Also, the technology we have today offers us so much knowledge!!! Why not use it?
There were so many interesting tools and technology used in this video clip. I personally love where the students can put on ear phones and listen to someone read a book to them. I would definetely use this in the classroom during centers time because there will be students that would like to read a book but don't want to read it themselves. They would probably want the teacher to read the book to them. With this technology, it will save the teacher time as well as interest the students. the ipad is very interesting. It will definetely be interesting/successful to use in the classroom. Students love using them. I will have them used in the morning time to do morning work. When students enter the classroom, they will be required to get the ipad and do whatever is assigned for that morning.
ReplyDeleteWe should try to use as much technology as we can in the classroom for many reasons. The main reason is because technology is everywhere and it is being used everywhere. People don't does not know how to use technology are not getting jobs and not being successful in their careers. Times are changing and technology is the root of the change. I believe what better way to teach kids about technology than in the classroom learning. Another reason why we should use technology in the classroom is because the students really enjoy it and to them its fun and exiciting. Yes, that's true but they are actually learning while having fun. Students are more engaged when they are using the technology.
I loved seeing the children use iPads in the classroom. I think they can be used in every subject of study. There are so many different apps available these days for children to enhance learning. We have already discovered so many of these apps and websites to use in the classroom. A math lesson can be practiced and tracked using apps on the iPad. Students can read books and take tests on the material on an iPad. Students can use an iPad to create a book or video presentation over a subject they have researched. The possibilities are limitless on what can be done in the classroom through the use of iPads.
ReplyDeleteIntegrating as much technology as possible in todays classroom is important. Children already know about current technology. They know how to use it for fun and play. However, they haven't necessarily been shown how to use it for learning. Technology is a gateway to the world. In the past information was not readily available. If you had a questions you weren't necessarily able to find the answer. If I was curious about the weather in China, I would have needed to know someone there in order to find out. Now, all you have to do is go to your weather app and type in China. Another reason to incorporate technology is that students are typically more engaged in their learning when technology is incorporated. Children are more likely to get excited about a lesson when it involves an iPad than when it only involved paper and pencil. Just using an app to write and take notes can cause children to be more excited than they would otherwise. It makes them feel as if they're playing at school and not just learning. Why not take every opportunity to make learning as fun and engaging as possible?
I LOVE document cameras. I think it is so cool how they show exactly what the writer is doing on the big screen. I could use them to complete whole group assignments, read a book, and so much more. IPods can be used in so many ways. They can be used to read a book to students, to practice sight/spelling words, and to help compute math problems.
ReplyDeleteLaptops can be used for research on the internet, a calculator, reading, writing, and almost any subject. We should try to infuse as much technology as possible because this is what appeals to students these days. It is everywhere, and there is no getting away from it. Students are way more likely to learn from a lesson that involves technology than a lesson that just involves paper and pencil. Also, technology can be extremely resourceful for students. By the way, that first video was too cute!
I found the use of I-pads and the interactive board very interesting within the video. I like the idea of using I-pads to read along with a story. This would work well in the classroom that I am student teaching in. It is a special education classroom for students k-5th. Many of the students struggle to read and an individual I-pad would allow the students to read a story with the technology supporting them. Students could listen and try to read along with the narrator on the I-pad and improve their reading skills and fluency skills. In addition, I also love the use of the interactive board in the classroom. It is an engaging way for students to learn within the classroom. There is so much that can be done with an interactive board. I use it all the time in the class that I student teach in. I can infuse differentiated instruction with the interactive board because I can support student learning with additional prompts when necessary. An example would be a vocabulary game where one student may have to point to a specific word, another student may select the word that begins with the letter c, and a more advanced student may read the entire sentence.
ReplyDeleteAs a teacher, it is important to integrate technology within the classroom because it is huge part of today's society. Students are aware and interested in technology and it is engaging to them. Students today are technologically savvy and become easily bored with old fashion teaching where they have to write their spelling words 5 times each. Therefore, teachers should use technology daily in the classroom because it is a preferred style of learning for many students in our society today.
I really enjoyed learning about the different activities we can do with the QR codes. Using these QR codes allows our classroom to be more interactive. With our ever changing technology, it is important that we stay current on technology.
ReplyDeleteAll of the technology in these videos was great. I love the QR codes. They help the students become more independent by having to get their work themselves. I also really like the use of the IPads in the classroom. This allows the children to enjoy the things being taught in the classroom with out even realizing they are learning. I think that technology should be integrated into a classroom because it allows the children to take their learning to a whole new level. It helps the children to enjoy the information they need to learn. When the students can enjoy what is happening in the class they will be excited and more interested so they will want to learn. They will want to come to school and will grow stronger in their knowledge. I think that with technology we can completely change schools for the better.
ReplyDeleteI really like using the QR code scanner in the classroom. I recently used it for Red Robin activity. I was able to put a spin on this activity with the QR code that made it more academically challenging and requiring more student collaboration than just the regular Round Robin activity without the QR code infusion. I also like the option for students to listen along to what they are reading. It really helps some students understand what they are reading (especially if it's a challenging text) when they can hear an audiobook as they are reading a hard copy.
ReplyDeleteI think it's important to integrate technology becuase students need to know how to use technology as a scholarly resource. This is also a technology driven generation, and educators need to be able to reach students, understanding that they majority of what they learn is through some medium of technology.
I saw all kinds of interesting technology in the video clips. I saw iPods with QR code reads, Math Apps, Measuring Apps, Sight Word Fluency checker App, and Science App. All of which could be used in my classroom to help me be a more effective teacher. I also saw Digital cameras, video cameras, and the use of a webcam. These cameras can be used in many ways, to help create digital performances, book reports, illustrating their writing for books, stories, vocab words, and how to demonstrate things like an experiment. They can use these cameras, like the webcam to go on to Skype, to learn and talk to others, like a hero at the firehouse. I also saw to my surprise a green screen in one of the videos. I was quite impressed, and though of all kinds of fun that would be in a classroom with good editing software. Which leads me to computers both desktop and laptops are very effective tools used in the classroom to help research and teach information through games and videos.
ReplyDeleteI believe that we teachers need to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction to simply keep our students engaged. This is the twenty-first century and a whole new generation of kids. They expect quick instant results, is it right or wrong why? They also expect to be entertained and if it is not fun then why bother doing it. This coming generation, it feels like, is born knowing how to use a computer, a camera, an iPod. It is our job as teachers to build on prior knowledge and incorporate new lifelong skills and facts. That is why we need to incorporate technology into our teaching.
1. The most interesting technology, like most others said, is the QR codes. Until we learned about them in class I had never used one or even thought about its ability to be used in the classroom. Now, I have a whole list of ways to use them once I become a teacher. They are not only used to accommodate but also for centers and activities. I also saw cell phones, iPads, iPods, computers, cameras, webcams, and phone apps. Out of those I really liked the use of cameras and webcams to document experiences or reflect on activities. The common types of technology I saw were cell phones and iPads but I liked that the teachers actively used them in the class for research and answering questions! I will definitely try to use all of these types of technologies but most of all phone apps, QR codes, and iPads/computers!
ReplyDelete2. It is CRUCIAL that teachers start using technology in the classroom because this generation is a technology generation. They grow up knowing more technology than we do! If we try teaching them without any technology, its less likely that we will keep their attention and/or that they will retain any information. If we reach out to the ways they learn best (technology) they are more likely to learn it!
1. I LOVE the idea of using iPods for reading. I know that listening to a book being read while reading is a great tool to remember what you read and make it interesting. Also, the recording device on iPods is an awesome way to make the book feel personal to the students. iPods seem like a great way to keep the students engaged and excited about learning. This is vital to education. Another great use of technology in the video is digital presentations. I think this is an awesome activity and way to present a project. iPads are probably my favorite form of technology in the classroom. There are so many activities to do with an iPad.
ReplyDelete2. It is important to incorporate technology into classrooms today because technology is all around us. It is apart of our everyday life. There are so many opportunities with technology. Using technology opens up a whole new world for our students to learn more and sets them up for a bright future.
I loved the idea of using technology for many different uses. The three ideas I liked the most were the measuring app, learning science, and the sight word fluencey app. Icould see the sight word fluency being used in my classroom to help students with broadening their vocabulary and I liked the QR code app for this as well.
ReplyDeleteI think it is important to incorporate technology into the classroom in order to keep the students engaged. I know sometimes I get tired of hearing myself talk sometimes so I know the students must get tired as well. Integrating technology would give the students an active role in their learning.
Some of the most interesting technology that I saw being sued were iPads, QR codes, green screens, digital presentations, the wii, and the smart board. This type of technology could be used as an everyday thing in the classroom. I think I liked the of doing digital presentations the most. It's an easy way of knowing if he student is comprehending what they are learning. it would also be entertaining for the kids to know that other kids are able to look at their videos for knowledge on the subject or book they talked about.
ReplyDeleteIt's important for us as future educators to try to infuse technology because it keeps the students engaged. Kids these days, like some of us, expect instant feedback as they do when playing on their DS or iPads, and if learning for them is not as fun as playing games then they don't even bother. We should try to instill in them how important and fun education can be. We need to build on the knowledge they already possess.
I found the incorporation of QR codes/iPods/iPads in a classroom setting to be quite interesting. As a (future) high school English teacher, I could envision myself using QR codes for the “Do Now” activity. Since many high school students own a smart phone, incorporating QR codes into my daily instruction would be virtually hassle free. Many people assert that our world is becoming more dependent upon the use of technology, and I would wholeheartedly agree with this statement. Technology, however, should be used on a limited basis inside of a classroom, especially at the high school level; technology should not overpower a lesson, become a burden to the teacher, or become a distraction for the students. For example, at my student teaching placement (which was a high school), each classroom had a set of netbooks for the students to use when needed. Each student was assigned a netbook, and they had to use the same netbook each time. Often times, several of the netbooks were either not charged or just simply not loading the internet. Because of this, using these netbooks would often become more of a frustration to the teacher rather than a benefit to the students. With that being said, it is ultimately the teacher’s responsibility to discover and implement technology that maximizes student learning without wasting instructional time.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the iphone used as a measuring tool. I was actually in a place several months ago where I needed a ruler and didn't have one. It dawned on me to try using my phone. At first I thought, no way I will find a ruler I can actually use but then I did. I was so amazed and thought it was the neatest thing ever. I measured what I needed to and went on about my day. This is the first time I have seen the tool used in the classroom and I think it is a fantastic way for students to measure rather than using the old wooden ruler. If these types of tools are used in the classroom then we as teachers are giving our students broader ideas about what resources are available to them on their smart phones for real life situations. There may be a time, like mine, where the student needs to measure something and can't because we don't carry rulers around in our back pockets. Technology allows for everything to be at your finger tips.
ReplyDeleteIntegrating technology into the classroom as much as possible is important because kids today are growing up on technology. They know how to use it and understand it. Why not take something they enjoy SO much and use it to engage them in learning. A lot of kids don't like to read, but are reading every day on the ipad or iphone and don't even realize it. One of the students in the video noted that the use of phones in the classroom allows for information to be obtained quicker. One student can google one thing, while another student google's something else. They then share their findings. She also noted how her and a partner could google the same thing and share with each other the different things they found. If we infuse technology into our classroom, learning and ideas are passed through the students more quickly than from reading a textbook.

ReplyDeleteThe video displayed an image of a student using a student response clicker. I like the idea of the students using student response clicker during instruction to respond to examples. I can use a graph to quickly check the percentage of the class that are understanding and then I could pace my lesson accordingly.
ReplyDeleteI noticed several times in the video the students were using iPods. Recently I have become obsessed with discovering all of the new apps and utility feature of the iPod. I could see I audio recording feature being used in centers or as a way for a student to provide a verbalize cognitive process. Seeing the student use iPod in so many ways, made me think about the many ways I could use iPads with my students. For example in a classroom were a group of students might be dependent on an signing interpreter but there is only one, then it is difficult to have stations and/or measure all students understanding of content at once. It would be cool if a video could be prerecorded and saved on the iPad as direction for different stations so that the class could be more differentiated.
Teachers should try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction.
Technology is how student interactive outside of school. Using technology is something that most students already excel at so teachers have the perfect opportunity to teacher student how to take their strengths and apply them to multiple content and applications.
I personally liked the use of ipods for measurement, and familiarization. Ipods are a way to integrate the benefits of the Internet, and apps, without the issue of texting. Also, I really enjoy the idea of digital presentations. Not only do I love making videos, but the use of digital presentations will help those who have fears of speaking in front of other students. In the video, when the students were using the ipad, they seemed so much more engaged in what they are doing. The make perfect sense: when they are children they are given games that play that are similar to the way they are doing work on the ipad. It makes sense that we should try to integrate as much technology as possible since students come into the classroom from being brought up with handheld games, they play those games in their spare time, then they use those tools when they leave the classroom in the workplace. It’s best way of developing their skills.
ReplyDeleteI liked the incorporation of QR codes the most. It seems now that everything has a QR code to scan. Just the other day the students were scanning the QR codes in their Core Math workbooks. They were amazed at the additional instruction that the QR code offered them. Students sometimes have difficulty with new concepts in math. I plan to use every resource that I can find to help my students develop conceptual knowledge and deepen their mathematical understanding content. Technology, including QR readers have done the work for me. All I have to do is take advantage of that resource. I plan to incorporate as much technology as I can into the classroom. I think that anything less would be a disservice to my students, because I would be denying them a resource that could help them to learn.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed seeing the ipod/ipad application that allowed students to speak into the device and it tell them if they are pronouncing a word right in English or another language. It was helping students with sight words in one scene and I felt that this was probably a really interesting way for that student to learn those words. I am Art Education so I'm not really sure how I'd use an app that you speak in to but I know that I could use the ipods/ipads with other art related apps. It would be a really interesting device to use to help students learn art history by creating games that use the information I have taught or to find sites that would take them on a virtual tour of a museum and allow them to search the museum for an allotted amount of time. I think it's really important to integrate technology because it is real world today. Technology is used by every business in America today and it's important that students know how to use those pieces of technology before entering even into college. Technology devices are great resources as well and a great way for students to be able to reach beyond the walls of the classroom, or any room, for information needed.
ReplyDelete1. I really like that fact that the school had all of the available iPods for the students to use. When I have my own classroom, I would love to try and incorporate QR codes into my classroom. There are so many things that you could do with them. In this video, the teacher used them for morning work, but you could also use them to put on the weekly newsletter that gets sent home with the students homework, they could be placed around the room with scavenger hunts for information, they could be placed in centers to help guide with instructions. It really is limitless with what could be done with this type of technology.
ReplyDeleteI think it's important to integrate technology as much as possible because a lot of students already know how to use it. It's not something brand new that you will have to tecah them, at least not for most of them. Even though I don't believe that it should replace all of the old traditional ways of doing things, we do need to keep these students on track with where technology is going. It is only going to continue to grow, and if these students do not know how to use it, then they may struggle as adults when they are required to use it in the job field.
I love, love the QR codes within the classroom, they allow the teacher to pick what students are learning about and allow students to have freedom to learn and grasp the concept on their own at the same time. I love this idea and thought process. I also love the green screens they give students the freedom once again to be creativity and think on their own to create something amazing while learning at the same time. I love these concepts greatly. Teachers should infuse trichology into daily instruction but there is a line of going overboard. There is a such thing as too much technology students still need to understand how to use pencil and paper because technology has faults and it is not always a reliable source to depend on. In the classroom it is important to understand and comprehend knowledge without technology as well as within it.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of using iPods/ipads in the classroom as research tools, and just to make learning fun, because you don't truly learn something until you enjoy it. The only thing I would steer clear of is using the calculator for math that can be done without it, such as adding/subtracting and multiplication/division. I believe these need to be practiced written out so it can be done if the person doesn't have a calculator, and then when students get to algebra, higher numbers, and decimals I would say a calculator is ok.
ReplyDeleteAs teachers we should integrate technology because it is a part of our world, and is becoming more integrated every day. In order to prepare kids for the future we have to open our eyes and try and see what the future will be for them, just because something is an old traditional practice does not mean it should not be replaced, we need to always try and innovate for our students.
There were a lot of interesting and beneficial technology used in the video clips, but I must say the use of Ipads in the classroom was my favorite. There are so many different that students can use with the Ipads. The Ipads can be incorporated I just about every subject. I would love to have Ipads in my classroom for my students. I could have the students read a book from the Ipads. This would be great for the students that have trouble with reading. They would be able to listen to the book being read to them as they follow along. I also liked the QR codes. I would like to incorporate them in my classroom as well. I would use them for different study materials as well as games that students can explore and play, and learn at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI think it’s important for us to infuse technology in daily instructions because technology is taking over the world. Everything is done with some kind of technology nowadays. I think the students should have the knowledge about technology so it should be incorporated as much as possible. Most students are aware of how to use several different technology devices, like, Ipads, Wii’s, computers, and etc. But they aren’t necessarily aware that those tools can be used to learn as well as for fun and play. The knowledge of technology will help student’s success not only in school but the real world as well because it’s used everywhere!
1. There are so many ways to use technology in a classroom. The most use of technology was through iPods and iPads. I love how the students would use the iPods when learning sight words and reading. This allows to the students to hear what they are learning and it is fun for them. Another thing I found very beneficial was the QR codes. It allows the students to be interactive with one another and it is a fun way of learning new materials or practice. I think that the iPad would be the most beneficial piece of technology in a classroom right now.
ReplyDelete2. Technology is such a big part in today’s world that not having it in the classroom would be pointless. There is such a wide range of things that you can do with technology in classrooms today. A lot of the students today are spending less time outside and more time inside. They are playing video games, on computers, and other forms of technology. We as teachers need to be able to infuse technology to get on their level of learning and teach them in a fun way that will grab their attention.
1. There are a lot of cool resources that schools can use when including technology. I believe that QR codes are a lot of fun for students. It is also a great way for students to see how there are QR codes outside of school that leads to some really cool things. Another one I really like is ipods and smart boards. I never really had a chance to work on smart boards in school, so I am still very fascinated by them. I think it is a fun way for students to stay engaged in lessons. It is also a great way to get around to tools quickly while using the internet instead of only using a chalk board or dry erase board. I also love the use of ipods. There are so many great apps for education. I love the ruler app and the calculator. There are also a lot of fun educational games they can play when students have down time. I would use ipads or ipods in my classroom for students that are finished with their work. Students could practice their sight words or spelling words on the notes app.
ReplyDelete2. We as teachers should use technology in the classroom because we are living in a world where technology is a huge part of our lives. A lot of things are moving or have already moved to technology. The majority of job applications are online. Students need to know how to work on the internet and to work on it appropriately. I think it is also important for schools to use it because many students do not have the opportunity to use technology at home. It is important that students have a somewhat even playing field to grow into this ever increasing technological world.
1. I loved the Ipads and QR codes. With Ipads they have every app you could ever think of. The students can read books, take notes, play interactive games and so much more. The students can practice vocabulary and reading comprehension, they can work on fractions and or place value. Students can even look up information for their science or social studies projects. The activities are limitless. The QR are so awesome. I have never seen anything like it. I will definitely try to incorporate those in my lessons. You can use QR codes for study materials, learning new information, and scavenger hunts.
ReplyDelete2. We as teachers should try to incorporate technology every day in the classrooms, even if it's only for a few minutes. Children learn so much through technology. Many things that children do on a daily basis involve technology such as watching TV, playing on Ipads, listening to music on Ipods, and even reading books on the kindle. If we can get students interested in our lessons by using technology then why not. By incorporating videos, playing educational games, and by using the smart board period you will get those students excited and engaged in your lessons.
There were a lot of types of technology that I would like to incorporate into the classroom! The use of iPods was possibly the best one out of all of them (that I found interesting), however, depending on what school you're at and their technology use that might not be capable, but instead you could use iPads, or have an iPod at each station/center. The cool things that I saw were all the apps that were used, measuring, counting, sight word fluency, etc. and being a future SPED teacher, that is a great way for our students to understand the material if they learn auditorally or visually. I think we should infuse technology into our daily lessons so the students won't become bored or complacent in their learning. When we do the same thing every single day, worksheets, lectures, the students do not find that interesting, nor does it benefit the different type of learning styles. If we integrate technology into our lessons, the students will become more active and willing to learn. It shows the material in ways that every student can understand and learn. It is also easy to switch up from day to day or week to week. Once they learn how to use all the different apps, they will be able to make the conscious decision to use it again if they think it applies to what they are learning. Plus it teaches real world skills, and uses of these types of technologies since everything we do is being integrated with technology.
ReplyDeleteBesides the smart board, I think that ipads are the most useful technology for the classroom. The fact that they can replace textbooks makes them even more valuable. School districts spend so much money on textbooks that have to be constantly replaced. Ipads can be upgraded with new information at any time and they are eco-friendly. I wish that every school district would invest in them. I would like to see schools issue an ipad to each student at the beginning of the year. This would mean that the students only have to carry and keep up with one item. I have heard the argument that they can be lost, broken, or misused. But, how much money do we lose when textbooks are lost or damaged? There are so many apps that can be downloaded to help the students. I also liked seeing the students on the video using ipods for measuring. This made me realize that even rulers can be eliminated. Because these digital items have internet access, even computers could be replaced. The students would not have to leave the classroom to go to a computer lab. This means that another class can be out of the portable building in the parking lot. I also like the idea of using skype to communicate with another classroom in a different country. They can learn diversity and how to communicate with those from a different culture. Teachers should include technology as much as possible because the students will need to be tech savvy when they get out in the real world. They will use technology throughout their lives. But, the thing that really makes technology exciting is the fact that the students are having fun while they are learning. With digital tools, learning is unlimited. Students will always find new ways to apply technology because they enjoy it. I want to us technology in my classroom as much as possible. QR codes can help with instructional time and allow for more productive time for the teacher. I would also like to have instructional videos available for the parents and students. If the child is struggling with homework, the parent or student can review the math lesson, for example, and be successful. Less frustration means the student is happier and able to learn more.
ReplyDeleteI really like the iPads and QR codes. iPads can be used to teach every subject. Students could read books on iPads, work out math problems, research information for a project, play games that help them practice their vocabulary words, and even practice improving their writing skills on an iPad. The uses of an iPad are endless. I would use QR codes for test reviews. QR codes would allow the teacher to be in control of what the students have assess to. I think QR codes would make studying more fun instead of the usual reading over notes or study guides.
ReplyDelete2. I think it is very important to infuse technology in the classroom. Technology rules the world and is constantly developing. Today, most kids are introduced to technology at an early age and develop a love and interest for technology. Why not use what interests the kids to get them excited about learning? There are endless uses of technology in the classroom. The teacher could cover the same subject a million different ways using technology to ensure that every child understands the topic. Technology would get children engaged and excited about learning.
1. I really like the Ipads and QR codes. I have used them in a couple of my lessons that I designed while student teaching. I like them because you can use them for any topic and any subjects. I used them in both my Social Studies classrooms and my Math classrooms. For the Math class I was able to make QR Codes that the students could use for extra practice and in the Social Studies class I made QR codes in order to control the websites that the students were allowed to get in while creating a project. We also use the Ipads in order to create the projects and to also read the QR codes. It was really fun and convenient.
ReplyDelete2. I think that it is important that teachers engage in the use of technology in the classroom. Technology is the way that our society is going and our students are in tune with all of its aspects. They are more concern with what is on twitter, facebook, and instagram. We have to meet them half way in order to make them successful people in both society and school.
1. I liked the QR codes. I have really only seen them used in advertisements for restaurants and stores. I never would have thought to use them in the classroom. Using them to post around the classroom for the students to use. They would be educational websites or apps. Also, being able to use them in any lesson or subject area would be very helpful.
ReplyDelete2. I think as teachers, we should infuse as much tech as possible. It is just the way that children learn in today's society. Babies are using educational iPad apps, and know how to work the iPad. If we decline their ability to use technology in the classroom, we decline their ability to learn in greater detail. Now when it comes to facebook, twitter, and social media, I do not believe that students should be using that at school. Some students would be too focused on who "liked" their status than actually learning the material. There is an equal medium ground.
1. I agree with integrating some use of cell phones in the classroom but not all the time. Just because students will find a way to do it anyway is not reason enough for me to say we should use them all the time. My favorite way to integrate technology into the classroom would be by the use of iPads. I think that makes things even across the board because not every student has a phone. I wish all the districts and even private schools would invest in having this kind of technology available in the classroom. This type of learning I think is good because it keeps everyone interested. It also helps those that may disabilities. Like the video said many students already know how to work an iPad, iPod, or iPhone so integrating this kind of technology will only enhance learning.
ReplyDelete2. I think that it is important to infuse some technology in the classroom because it will enhance the learning process. It will encourage students to research and I believe it will motivate them to want to learn because the task won't seem so daunting. The work will be a lot more exciting than just reading from the textbook. I also think that the use of the SmartBoard and QR codes in the classroom will also enhance learning.
I like the idea of having ipads and ipods in the classroom. I hope when I become a teacher I will have that opportunity, but a lot of schools are just not there yet. I think the possibilities are endless when you talk about technology in the classroom and since that is how the kids these days are being taught at home and engaged in so many items at home, that is what they are used to. We are taught to reach students at where they are, well that is where they are. If we are going to reach them we are going to need to do it with technology, not textbooks. I believe they can learn deeper than students of my generation ever dreamed of using technology. Again I just hope I am given the opportunity.
ReplyDelete1. My favorite thing to put in the classroom would be the iPads. I think iPads provide great educational apps and alternative ways to make learning fun for students. The possibilities are endless when using iPads because there are apps which cover anything a teacher can think of.
ReplyDelete2. I think we should infuse as much technology in the classrooms as possible because technology is interesting to our students and makes then enjoy learning. Technology in the classroom allows students to see things they wouldn't normally see and explore things they normally might not be able to explore. Technology also adds a creative element to the classroom and is a more fun approach than lecturing and worksheets.
The forms of technology that I found interesting were the ipad, ipod, and the smart board. All of these things can be used in many different ways. I really liked that students could use them for reading, writing, math and all subjects.
ReplyDeleteI think we as teachers should incorporate technology whenever we can because our world is run by technology. There are so many different forms of technology out there that our students need to be able to graduate school and enter the work force knowing how to use all these things so that they can be successful.
The most interesting use of technology was the QR codes. I love that the teacher used it as a morning work activity. He said that the use of that technology in his class helped the children go at their work with a different perspective. They don't see it as work and in turn are becoming engrossed in things that we need them to be in.
ReplyDeleteThe kids know it. They know the technology already. There is no learning curve. Children today just know how to use technology because they're being raised in this time. I think to take those almost natural abilities and not use them in the classroom is almost ignorant. We are supposed to be reaching children at their level of learning and in a way that is interesting to them. Technology can reach children at any level and kids enjoy it!
My favorite forms of technology were the QR codes and the Ipad. The QR codes are fun way to get your kids moving and learning about many different subjects. These are quick and easy way for students to find sites since they are still learning how to type and write. An Ipad will always be a great class room tool. There are so many apps and games for students to use. The internet is portable and can be carried from group to group. I pads enchance the learning ability in your classroom.
ReplyDeleteTechnology is become mandatory form of knowledge as more time passes. If educators do not start incorporating it more in their classroom some students will be left behind. Not all students can afford today technology, so the only opportunity they have to us it is in the classroom. It is our responsibility to get these students ready for the world and the world is all about technology.
I really enjoyed the QR code as well as the SMARTboard and of course the iPad. All these are great tools to help reach our students. I used QR codes in my lessons and the students really enjoyed it as well as the parents. There are already tons of lessons to use for the SMARTboard and many apps that are available on the AppleStore to use in the classroom. It is our job as educators to use the forms of technology that students use to help educate. Rather than be scared and fight it we need to integrate them into our lessons to help further learning. I have seen numerous teachers use Facebook and Twitter to hep send out real time information to their students.
ReplyDeleteThe technology that stood out to me most was using the ipads. I really liked those ipad stands on the students tables. It seemed like a more advanced classroom. I noticed the kids scanning the QR codes, and I am a fan of that because it is fun and interesting for the students. On the first video, it showed skype. I think that would be beneficial to my Spanish class in order for the students to connect with people from different countries.
ReplyDeleteWe as teachers are shaping the minds of our youth and their futures. If the teachers do not try to intergrate this technology, our country will fall behind. The kids growing up nowadays with nothing but technology are completely different from when we grew up in schools, and teacher need to realize the differences in time. If we want students to learn and advance with our world, we should accomodate. It is our jobs to use different teaching techniques to ensure learning.
The use of ipods is something that is of interest to me as I’ve been thinking often of guided reading and read aloud situations in the classroom. Often in the classroom, some children need a little extra help while others are more self sufficient, and the ability to provide different technologies to suit different students would be helpful. For children who need to say… work on phonemic awareness but the teacher wants to facilitate that learning without having to read to that child themselves because of time issues in the classroom can get an audio book, or even record themselves reading the book ahead of time so that the children can listen to it at a station.
ReplyDeleteAll sorts of recording methods such as cameras, ipads(the ones that now have cameras), and such can make assessments that much easier, especially of oral reports, readings and the sort. They can be assessed with greater accuracy and be assessed after the fact. Depending on how the stations are put together, it could even be used at a station where children can document their work independently without direct help from the teacher. I feel this can be especially important in an inclusion class; having been in one this semester there were several children who needed extra help, so facilitating independence in as many children as possible would perhaps make it so that the children who are behind can have more teacher attention and get caught back up.
As to why we need technology, I only have to look at what I’m doing nowadays in my life. I connect with most of my friends through Skype. Facebook is a way to keep in touch with my fellow future teachers and also my family. Frankly, if I leave the house without my phone I have a moment of panic because I know if I break down on the side of the road I have no way to call someone, and if an emergency happened no one could reach me. My calendar events would go unnoticed because I am alerted by my phone. I would feel quite, quite lost. This life that is immersed, no, drenched with technology is only going to become even more intensive and dependent on technology to aid us in day to day things. Fluency in these multiple technologies will be necessary. Technology will be necessary for most jobs. Is it not our duty to teach the children to use what will be such an important tool in their life. In short, technology is the future, which is exactly what we are preparing the children for.
I found the measuring app and the digital presentation to be very interesting. I never seen technology use that way in a classroom that way. I would use the measuring app in my math class when students are learning about measuring. I would use the smart board to interact with the students and to make it much more fun for them to learn. I would also use the Wii also.
ReplyDeleteI think we as teachers should use technology on a daily because it helps get the student involved and they have fun while learning. Education is changing more and more so technology is getting more and more advanced also. Children would love to learn when technology is being used in the class.
The interesting thing about this segment is I am exposed to Mr. Crouch and his technology daily. I am doing my student teaching at his school and work with a few of his first graders. We use I- Pads on a regular basis. Not only do the students use them as if they were born with them but it gives them the ability to move around to other spots that a desktop would not. Even laptops which are more portable are large and cumbersome to these small children. In one of my rooms we use them for certain students as a reward for doing the assigned work for the short block. Some of the other students use assigned applications to do their assignments. We have one student who uses it to speak for him. These I-pads have shown me how creative my students can be. It gives them the ability to place themselves on a level plain with their counterparts. For those who struggle with reading and math on written paper or trying to comprehend the teacher, this form of learning helps them shine. Many students with special needs excel with technology. I have not only seen this over the years with my students but have a young adult with special needs at home who every time we upgrade our phones takes them for a couple of hours and returns to show her dad and I how to use them them and what they can do. The technology open to these children is amazing. They can have a answer to any question in seconds by typing it into a I-pad or computer. They no longer have to go to the library and read for hours trying to locate the answer. But today's student seems to be born with technology capabilities. Now we need to challenge them and use the language they speak. So if we don't fight them but embrace their language we can make this a better experience for students and teachers. As with every aspect we just have to use classroom management and keep control of the when and hows.
ReplyDeleteThe digital cameras, ruler on the iphone, and the listening tools on ipods to help with sight words caught me by surprise! All of these technological gadgets serve a good purpose in the classroom. The digital camera can be used in my classroom in various ways. For example, I can allow the students to take pictures of a growing plant in science. Taking pictures of students work would help me keep up with their growth in learning over time. Sight words play an essential role in the younger grades so having that ipod that helps students with those words in my classroom would be a big help. Sight words often become boring to children in the younger grades. Having a gadget such as an ipod to aid in the learning of those words I think will keep my students motivated and eager to learn those words. The ruler app on the iphone I had never seen before. This app can help with science and math. Instead of going to get the traditional rulers out, why not have my students just pull out their iphones and open that ruler app!
ReplyDeleteThe more technology used in the classroom, the more students learn in the classroom about the outside world. Technology is everywhere and it is growing rapidly and changing everyday! Not all students have gadgets at home so where else will they learn about them besides in the classroom. As educators it is our job to not only teach children so that they can proceed to the next grade but it is our job to help prepare them for the world. Technology dominates our world today. Technology also adds that fun aspect to learning. Sometimes some lessons are boring but have to be taught. Technology makes learning fun and interesting! Incorporating as much technology as we can into the classroom I think will keep students eager to learn.
1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteThe QR codes being used to help teach the students. I’m interested in using the smart board more, I’ve never really had a chance yet except writing different things on the board in word. I think this could be a cool thing to use much like the teacher in the video did, a morning warm-up with the sentence in a code to which they have to answer and send in to be checked. Also using the ipads as a reading tool, I love books on tape or even read alongs because it give students a chance to see the words and hear them spoken and imagined in a different way than the teacher could possibly bring to a classroom.
2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
With students having such easy access to technology, and the world becoming more technology dependent, I believe that incorporating more technology into a classroom could show students how to properly use a certain technology that could possibly inhibit a job later.
1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteI thought using the iPods to listen to a book as you read it was interesting and a great tool for students. This can be used by having each book available on audio as well as a hard copy. This could help many struggling students in reading, as well as just helping auditory learners.
2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
I think it is important to infuse as much technology as possible into our daily instruction because it is relevant in the students life and therefore a way to get them excited and paying attention. I think it is a way to get on their level and make them want to learn because we are using what they already know.
1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteI really thoght that the iPads had a huge impact in student learning in the classroom shown. It was really neat how they were incorporated into all subjects and how involved and excited the students were about learning. I would be so happy to utilize these in my classroom. I could also use them for all subjects. The students could use them to play games and do activities that strengthen their reading, writing, and math skills, as well as use them for music and art assignments.
2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
Technology is an excellent tool for teachers to use. I think it is such as asset for those students that do not learn that well using just a paper and pencil and listening to a lecture. Through technology, students are able to see, hear, touch and interact in all ways with what they are learning. Technology helps all types of learners and can be modified to suit individual needs (like visual and auditory learners). Above all, I think that technology in the classroom captures the attention of students and makes them interested and excitied about what they are learning.
Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom? I liked the idea of using iPods for reading. I know that listening to a book being read while reading is a great tool to remember what you read and make it interesting. We are told all children do not learn the same way so i feel that this gives you the ability to provide different technologies to suit your variety of students.
ReplyDelete2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction? Because technology does not seem to stop growing. We are constantly learning new way to do things throughout technology infused devices. It is important as teachers that we keep our students as involved in the technological field as possible so they won't run into any issues as they grow and develop.
1. In the first video, I liked their use of iPods while reading. When the students use the voice memo app with the microphone earbuds, they can hear themselves reading. In a classroom where several students may be talking or also reading aloud, this can help everyone keep their concentration. Especially when students are first learning to read, they need to be able to read out loud and hear themselves.
ReplyDelete2. Technology has become a huge part of life. It would be a crime not to teach children how to use technology when their future jobs are most likely going to depend on their abilities to use it.

ReplyDelete1. I loved how they used the Ipod to help them with their reading. Children love when someone is rading aloud to them it helps the remember the story. Also, never thought about using certain apps on Ipods like calculators and rulers..I will definitely be using that in my classroom!
ReplyDelete2.Technology is only going to improve through the years and we might as well take advantage of it. There are so many awesome tools for teachers to use. I think that technology makes learning easier and a lot more fun. Technology is also great for different learners. The auditory, visual and kinesthetic learners can all use it and benefit from it in different ways.

ReplyDeleteWhich types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
I liked the idea of the students using their iPhones and ear plugs to help them read along with a story. The students could visually see the words while being read the book. I also believe that using the smart board in every lesson is a good idea it saves on costs for materials and gives an interesting visual for every student to see. I have used the QR code reader in my college courses and found it interesting I also plan on using this in my own classroom one day.
Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
Advancements in technology are inevitable which is a good thing. For students to be able to compete in the growing global market it is important to grasp the latest and greatest technology from an early age. Also it has been proven that the use of technology in instruction is more effective for students for comprehension and engagement. The key is gaining their focus and keeping it by using technology as educators we can accomplish this daunting task.

ReplyDeleteWhich types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
I really liked the idea of the students using the interactive white board and also using video presentation. Using the interactive white board in the classroom makes it fun to learn for the students. I have noticed from my experience in the classroom that when the board is being used, the students are more likely to volunteer and answer questions. The interactive white board is something that is perfect for that classroom, because it keeps the students engaged. I also think that it would be fun for the students to use video recording to make presentations to the class. I think that would be fun for the student and if that student has a fear of talking in front of others, it helps with that as well.
Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
Technology is only going to continue to grow and it is only going to get more advanced. Because of this, we as teachers must make sure to incorporate technology into the classroom as much as possible, to keep the student up to date. Technology in the classroom also tends to keep the students more engaged in learning and keeps them more focused. Our students must keep up with the latest technology, because as they get older more things will advance and it will helpful to them to know.
• I enjoyed seeing the various forms of technology used in the video clips. Seeing how easily the students were able to use the technology on their phones, laptops, and tablets is exciting to me. Nowadays, most every student has their own cell phone, starting from as young as elementary school-age children.
ReplyDeleteThe most interesting types of technology that I saw were:
-the use of text messaging within the classroom to answer questions to the teacher
-searching for information on the internet for in class assignments
(even in Elementary School, students are learning how to find information on their own, especially with the help of the internet)
-using simple apps such as camera, video, and stopwatch for class work
(all of these can be easily used by an Elementary School Student)
-using YouTube videos and music within lessons
(making learning fun by grabbing their attention with videos and songs)
-online polls in the class such as polleverywhere.com
-recording data and science projects
(using beginner excel spreadsheets or even Word Documents already set up for them)
-educational games and activities online
(using the smart board and other computers within the classroom. There are endless possibilities on games and activities online.)
-online quizzes
(We still do ‘AR’ reading tests online.)
-PowerPoint Jeopardy Game
(Fun and easy review games for even young students.)
• As teachers, we will be faced with the hard task of gaining the interest of our students. They have so many more distractions than we did when we were in school. Students have their phones on them at all time. This taboo on technology has only caused students to get more creative with how to get away with having their phones in class, which causes even more of a distraction. By eliminating the ban of technology on school property, students will feel more open to using it in the classroom. In the YouTube videos we watched, there were students stating how fun and appealing the technology is to them. They are able to bounce ideas off of each other, interact with their classmates (and teacher via text), play educational games, and even record their data and findings for projects. There are so many options of technology that can be used in the classroom. Our job is to get really creative and incorporate them into our class in order to get our students attention and motivation towards learning.
1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteI found the QR codes that the children were scanning on their iPAD's to be very interesting. Instead of the children simply seeing the words written n the board, the curriculum is integrating technology and the use of their resources to get to their warm up and complete it. I could definitely see myself using and integrating iPAD's into the everyday lessons that I am going teach in the future. When learning to write certain letters and words, the students could use the iPAD's to follow what I am doing on the SMARTBOARD. This could be very beneficial and fun to the students.
2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
We should try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction because technology is constantly enhancing and getting better. As students use technology in the classroom, it will help them adapt to new technological benefits in the future more easily. Also, by using technology, this makes instruction fun to the students and may help their learning comprehension.
I have a few favorites from the list of technologies that can be integrated into a classroom. I love Skype. Last semester in a practicum, I taught a two week unit on Australia and invited a teacher friend of mine that lives in Melbourne to Skype with my class. It was fantastic to have the students learn from an Aussie … the kids were thrilled and my friend had a wonderful time as well. QR code readers can be used from a simple Do Now activity to an electronic scavenger hunt. Science and math apps are great tools: converters, calculators, star finders, GPS, and many others. I like document cameras so much that I bought an IPEVO product to use before I was even in a classroom. It’s a perfect way to perform a one person science experiment but give everyone a great view. It’s also a good method of presenting an otherwise difficult to view object, book, artifact, or primary source. My wife, a teacher also, only THINKS our IPEVO belongs to her! It’s mine, mine, mine! Seriously, though, these technological bells and whistles that accompany a cell phone, iPad, tablet, SMARTBoard, or other device are perfect ways to connect with the generation that has risen to our classrooms. They are surrounded, even inundated, by these devices; we would be leaving a huge gap in our repertoire if we did NOT use them to our advantage. If it means incorporating a piece of technology into my lesson plan to engage and inspire a student, then I’m all for it! Besides, many people would be surprised how easy a device or technology makes learning. As a final thought, I believe incorporating these things into our classrooms help the students beyond the content knowledge. We cultivate their technology skills, ones they will find essential and unavoidable in real life, by introducing and using them now.
ReplyDeleteAs far as technology in my elementary class setting, I would love to use the iPods! Especially since I don't have one of my own. Using them with my students would be awesome, especially to begin our day with the QR codes to let them know what I expect of them for the bell ringer and to let them know what is going to be happening for the day. I just love it! Also I like the part when the students had the book "Ill read to you and you read to me"...great idea!
ReplyDeleteWe should infuse technology as much as we can, because this is who our students are now and this is what their going to be using in the future. Technology will also keep students interested in an assignment and keep the students excited about coming to school everyday.
1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of using every type of technology available. The use of the QR code was interesting to me because it was something I had never thought of before. The use of Skype in the classroom would be a great idea for pen pals in other parts of the world the students would be able to ask questions learn words in other languages and get immediate feedback. Also learning to read and write though programs on the computer seems like a great idea to me, for me these were difficult and spellcheckers are my friend I have dyslexia and when I prof read things I automatically correct the things and don’t see the problem, however with word and other similar program the red underlining lets me fix my mistakes and know what to look for in the future.
2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
Technology is no longer becoming a part of everyday life it is a part of everyday life and it is only getting stronger. Hospitals have switched charting to computer form and in almost every job you have to work with technology the more comfortable children are at the youngest age possible the easier it will be with every new upgrade.
1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteWatching these video clips and what these children could do with technology amazed me! Seeing them use the QR codes was a fantastic idea! Aside from that I loved the clip of the child using the iPod app for a ruler or the children using the screen to write what the teacher was saying. I could see how this type of technology being used daily in my classroom. As a foreign language teacher, using Skype, interactive maps, videos, and music clips could be beneficial in the learning of the student. Not just that, but think about it, have you ever seen a child on an IPad? It literally takes them 10 minutes to learn how to use it and they become attached! What better way to encourage them to learn then my giving them a wonderful tool to do it with.
2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
As teachers we should try to infuse as much technology as possible into our daily instruction to keep the students stimulated. Now days you tell a child to sit and take notes, or write something over and over again and their brain just shuts down, they become uninterested. To peak their interest we have to come up with way to keep the child motivated and captivated. In an ever changing world we must keep up with technology.
Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteIn any classroom, the Smart Board has become and essential tool. I can use it to show videos, tackle grammar practice without worksheets, and keep students up to date on classroom activities. The iPads, or any other type of tablet, are fabulous for individual research, reading books, or giving students a hands-on device with which to practice skills. I can also see my students using digital cameras for projects and to record recitations of poetry. This would give assistance to students who are reserved. They could record the assignment and play it in class instead of having to stand up in front of their peers and do it live. Laptops can, of course, be used to type papers and learn about the writing, revising, and editing process. Cell phones can be used to send in answers to question via texts. The possibilities are endless.
Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
Technology is not a passing phase. It is part of our everyday lives and is growing at a rapid pace. As teachers, we must do our best to keep up with the learning styles and needs of today’s students and technology plays an important role in doing that. Our students will have grown up using many forms of technology and we must embrace their strengths in order to help them succeed. If we want our students to be able to compete in this global society, we need to integrate technology into our lessons. If it improves students’ learning, it should be used.
Smart boards are a common type of technology seen in today's classrooms and are really interesting! Smart boards are interactive white boards that allow lessons to be recorded and saved, you can have the students interact with your lessons and help complete problems, and smart boards are a good source when trying to keep students attention. Another cool tool I prefer is laptops. Many schools in Muscogee County either use Classworks or IXL and have a certain day or time when the students work on skills they are learning in class through these computer programs. These programs provide fun games that encourage students to learn. I would use tablets or iPads in a speech class or as a speech pathologist. This way you can video the student saying a word or phrase and they can listen and see themselves say it back.
ReplyDeleteTechnology is becoming more and more common in education today. Students are so subjected to technology and know more than us adults do about cell phones these days! We as teachers, will need to keep up with the latest ways to teach our students so that the students don't get bored. Technology makes things fun and interesting for our students. Students love using technology in the classroom. I don't blame them, I would rather use technology than do busy work with textbooks, paper, and pencil too! Technology has some great ideas and resources out there for these students that will help them to keep learning more and more.
1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteWhile watching this clip I noticed the use of Ipads, cameras, smart boards, and many more. In my own personal classroom I would definitely introduce the smart board to my students as a way to add some variety to my lessons.
2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
We as teachers should infuse technology in our daily instruction to explore different teaching methods to reach our students in more ways than the traditional methods.
I really liked the QR codes that the children were scanning onto their iPad’s. I thought it this was so neat and interesting! I have never heard of using this before. I think that learning to read and write through these programs on technology would bring great feedback from the children. I cannot wait to have my own classroom and be able to incorporate such cool technology into my daily lessons. I think that we as teachers should try to infuse as much technology as we can into our daily lessons because there are so many resources that children can use. By using technology in daily instruction and classrooms, we can provide children with a fun and engaging way to learn!
ReplyDelete1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteI found all of the technology devices interesting, but if I had to choose a couple of my favorites it would be the use of iPad’s and the interactive board for daily activities. I think that these two devices are so versatile and can be used in all subjects. iPad’s can enhance student learning by providing them with games, puzzles, videos, books, and many other resources that are informative and fun. Providing children with things such as iPad’s to keep them interested in the lessons will greatly help them to be motivated to learn. Using an interactive board to get the students actively involved is another way I would use technology. For example, I could write math problems on the board and call on different students to come up and solve them. I could also have my students write complete sentences or their spelling words on the board for extra practice. The things you could do using an interactive board are endless.
2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
Integrating technology into the classroom can be very beneficial for the students. Allowing the students to use technology is a fun and engaging way for them to learn. Teachers should try to infuse technology in daily instruction as much as possible so that children can be connected to the real world. The real world revolves around technology these days. Everyone texts, sends emails, watches TV, talks on the phone, takes pictures, records videos, etc. Allowing children to practice using these devices will prepare them for the real world while learning in a fun way. Children won’t even realize that they are learning so much because they will be having so much fun. Using technological tools within the classroom is a sure way to have successful and knowledgeable students.
1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteI loved the use of the ipad in the classroom. The measurement app was really cool to me as well as the QR code scanner. I think it is something that will save time all while implementing technology in your classroom. I would use the measurement app during math and the QR code especially for the essential question and other quick response questions.
2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
Students today live in a technology based world. Everything is ran off of computers and without the knowledge of how to use technology the students will not have the tools that they need to succeed in life. Technology is a way to expand the students intelligence by giving them every available resource on the internet to answer their questions. It also teaches them how to find the answer instead of just telling them. In my opinion, teaching a child how to find the answer is far more useful than just telling them the answer.
1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteDuring this video, I realized just how much technology can be incorporated in the classroom setting. Throughout the entire day, technology should be used because this is what the basis of our generation is based off of. In the video, I enjoyed seeing the QR code scanner, green screen, and ipad being used to its fullest potential. In my classroom I would probably use the ipad because it seems to be a way to keep the students engaged.
2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
Infusing technology in the daily instruction is a great way to keep the students up to date on modern technology and also for them to remain engaged in the lesson. Including technology is great because it is a way that all students can participate at once. Technology has taken over the generation we are currently in and it is only going to continue to grow. It is important that we keep our students educated on this.
1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteSmartBoards offer teachers so many creative ways to engage students in a lesson while explaining challenging concepts. They can be used as a more technologically advanced version of PowerPoint but can also be used to provide the class with opportunities to practice skills that they have just learned through games and activities using the touchscreen. Additionally, the sets of class responders are easy to incorporate to allow students to test their understanding of material. In my student teaching placement, these responders have been used during review games as well as for actual quizzes. The students really enjoy taking their quizzes using the responders as they receive immediate feedback regarding their grade once they submit their final answers. Of course, as a teacher this is helpful as there are not copies to be made or papers to grade.
2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
I believe that it is important for teachers to infuse technology into their lessons so students have the opportunity to learn how to use technology properly as many students do not have access to technology at home and are not being encouraged to use it correctly. However, I do not believe the teacher should focus on the amount of technology integrated into their lessons. When appropriate and available, it may be used but it should not distract from the concepts being taught.
1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDelete2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
I found it interesting to see the young students so engaged in their work and not distracted by the leisure activities for which they could be using the various technologies. I thought it was amazing how much the students were able to do using the ipod, ipad, and tablets. They were able to do science projects, practice spelling and sight words, and practice math. Like the video showed, I can see myself using this technology because it would provide a more hands on experience for students and allow them to learn somewhat at their own pace. I think we should try to incorporate technology as much as possible in our daily instruction because everything is so technology based. As time progresses, the use of technology will only increase and we don't want to set our students up for failure by not giving the exposure they need so that they are able to cope and adapt in a constantly changing world. Technology provides room for exploration of ideas and concepts, and allows students to challenge the unknown in a hands on manner that allows for trial and error. When properly used, it can provide the ultimate learning experience for a child and motivate him or her to want to learn even more.
I absolutely love the video about using the iPad in the classroom because I would love to be able to have iPads in my classroom. Children can do so many different things with the iPad and it is so normal and easy for them they do not even realize that they are learning. I love that they used the QR codes in the morning because they are able to quickly and easily get the warm-up for the morning and they are able to type up the answer. They are able to read on the iPad and they can even have someone read the book to them if they are struggling with reading a little bit which will help the children with their reading skills. iPads are so wonderful and I wish that ever school could have them in their classrooms. We should try to intergrade technology into our classroom as much as possible because children these days are so technology savvy that they can pick up concepts easier because they are able to do it on something that they are familiar with and know very well.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of technology in the classroom. I like that students are able to learn in an engaging way. I like the interactive white board, document camera, digital camera, and the Ipads. I would create interactive lessons for my white board. I would use the document camera to quickly explain problems or show pictures that have been already printed. I would use the digital camera for the students to take pictures around the school of objects and shapes that can be related to mathematics. I think that teachers should try to infuse as much technology in daily instruction because it surrounds the students everyday. I think that it would allow for students to visualize or research concepts using technology.
ReplyDeleteI liked the document camera projector. I like this type of technology because it allows visual learners an opportunity to see. As a visual learner, this always helped me learn better. I could see the document that we were working on. I like this because students can be interactive with their learning. I also liked the clickers. Clickers allow students to participate with warm ups, quizzes, and tests.
ReplyDeleteI could use the document camera projector on everything. Anytime I had a document to discuss with my class, I could use this. I can post warm ups, discussion questions, quizzes, tests, and any other document. I can hold group discussions or debates. For the clickers, we can use these to see students opinions on topics, review for a test, or anytime I want to see students feelings on a topic.
1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDelete-I thought that using the voice recorder on the iphone/ipad for sight word fluency practice was really cool. Also how the students in the second video were using the QR code scanner for their daily exercise on the board. This not only saves a lot of time but I think it makes the experience a little more enjoyable for the children. The voice recorder could be extremely effective in the music classroom as well. Students can perform playing test at home or during the school day and send them to me. If there are any issues I can send them a email response with some tips. Also students can create their own compositions by recording sounds and putting them in their own sequence.
2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
-Just as the teacher in the second video explained that his students became so much more connected and involved in the learning process once the students were using some sort of technology. I think this is a progression of education in general in order to keep up with the world education must integrate this technology into the classroom. It would be like the students could drive corvettes only after school but at school the must use a model T. I think that by not keeping up with our culture and moving with technology all we are doing is disengaging students from their full potential of learning.
Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDelete- It amazes me every time how technology can be used in so many tasks and every day life operations. Technology will continue to grow, and with it will grow the need for it in our classrooms. I found many interesting technology uses in the video clip, one of them was the measurement application and mathematics applications in general, it is something that I definitely will use in my classroom because the students can discover by themselves the many uses for this kind of applications. Another great use of the technology that I would like to use in my classroom is the QR code, students can get definitions or answers for problems on their screens just by scanning a code.
Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
- Nowadays, kids are exposed to technology since the first day of their lives. Teachers must find this combination of technology and learning, for the kids it would be very interesting and for the teacher it should help with planning and have more resources. Another important thing is the students future, if today almost every job requires basic computer skills, in the future, today's students will have to know more about technology and the use of it because this is a growing field that will only get harder.
Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteMany students learn in different ways. An effective teacher has to incorporate differential instruction to ensure the students learn the material. The interesting tools in the video include the clickers, document cameras, iPod, and interactive smart board. The white boards can be used in the classroom as a way to instruct students and allow all students to visually see instruction on the board. The Ipod and document cameras can be a great way to capture images of nature and study the evidence from the device. The clickers can be used during test and quiz time as a way to quickly evaluate the students understanding.
Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
Teachers should infuse as much technology as possible because students are accustomed to incorporating and using technology in and out of school. Technology in the 21st century has changed from the previous past times of shying away from technology. Technology has become so advance that the common teacher must stay ahead of all the technological changes to better instruct their students. Using technology also helps the student stay on task and remain focus because they are using a device they are familiar with and not just learning old conventional ways of solving and documenting information.
I love how Mr. Crouch uses iPads with his 1st graders! It is amazing to me how kids nowadays don't have a learning curve, as he mentioned. Most of them know how to use technology, and they love it! Using a tool like a tablet also allows students to work within their own learning styles. While he teaches in and early childhood classroom, I can definitely see tablets being an integral part of a secondary classroom as well. I love the use of QR codes and I could see that being adaptable for an older grade level. Having different students scan various topics, and then bringing them into a group discussion over their different ideas. It is vital in this day and age for teachers to integrate and infuse as much technology as possible. As our world is ever-changing, we have to adapt to keep up with the new tools available for us in education. Allowing students to use technology in the ways shown in the videos also opens up students to the world, which is the most beneficial aspect of technology incorporation. And furthermore it prepares students for real world experiences and interactions, as technology is a part of everyone's life.
ReplyDeleteI really like the document camera that was shown in the first video. We used them in a few of my college courses and it was really helpful when we were presenting our design projects to the whole class because we could just show the designs on the projector instead of having to pass it around the room. I also like the QR code scanner from the second because it seemed fun and an easy way to get all the students to the same web page. The voice recording app would be useful in my classroom as well for directing assignments. Students could record their notes for the scenes instead of having to stop and write things down.
ReplyDeleteI feel that teachers should integrate as much technology as possible because it will prepare students for the increasingly digital world. If they are familiar with devices from a young age, they will be able to master them and use them for learning. Also, any technology that saves time or makes tasks easier is useful because it allows the optimum amount of time for instruction and learning.
I love the document camera! I have used one in my classroom while student teaching and it makes demonstrations so much easier for all of the students to see. I also like the idea of the CR codes and the Ipads. When students are getting to use technology while they are learning, it is much more fun than answering questions out of a textbook. The students are more engaged and I believe that it is easier to judge what a student really understands about the content in the classroom because they are really going to participate in activities that are technology-based and fun. A very intelligent student may not prove it with pencil and paper, but by integrating as much technology as possible, that student will be willing to do the work and will be much more willing to participate.
ReplyDeleteAnother reason why integrating as much technology as possible is so important is because it is constantly surrounding the students and will better prepare them for whatever their futures may hold. Technology is prominent in this world and the better prepared the students are, the better we will have succeeded as teachers.
After watching the video I think that tablets would be great to implement in my classroom. Being that I’m in elementary school I think it would benefits my students because it easy to navigate and very visual for my learners. Having tablets it can also allow my students to work on independently without a lot of teacher interaction. I think it is very important to integrated technology because our students are becoming digital natives and need to know about technology. Technology is all around our students and is literally becoming their world, which is why is very important to always have some type of technology in my very day lesson.
ReplyDeleteI'm 100% agree with the idea of implementing tablets in the classroom. Tablets are great and easy to use. Having them in a classroom gives students another access to technology. Students tablet to take notes or send quick response to the teacher. Tablets give students the opportunities work independently. I do not agree that students should have access throughout the entire class period. The teacher is responsible for the tablets and when they used with in the classroom. Many students already using the technology outside of the classroom and having it in the classroom only benefits the students more.
ReplyDeleteThe most interesting use of technology in my opinion was the use of the ipads. Ipads can be so beneficial for many different reasons. Students can download different apps and educational games that promote learning. Also it engages the students more because they are fascinated by the use of technology. QR codes can also tie in with ipads because they can create and scan their own codes with the ipad. Students can also download books on them and do different activities. As a teacher you could have a center dedicated to Ipads in which students can read or be quizzed. There are so many possibilities.
ReplyDeleteAs teachers we must try and infuse as much technology as possible because we need to use whatever options that we are presented with in order to help our students. Technology can grasp the attention of our students and help them learn on different levels. We need to take advantage of the different technologies available to us in order to further differentiate our lesson plans and help our students learn.
The technology that I found interesting in the clip were iPods, iPads, and the digital cameras. These provide such a great way for students to learn and record and show what they have learned as well. I love the idea of digital presentations because that is a way to show parents and others what students have learned on various topics. I would definitely like to incorporate digital presentations in my own classroom as a sort of portfolio to showcase student growth. As a parent I would love to see something like this from my own children. Also, it is incredible the different ways to utilize iPods and iPads in the classroom as well. From taking pictures and videos to recording their own reading, and using resources to aid in learning, students can learn a lot through the use of technology.
ReplyDeleteI think that it is important for teachers to infuse technology on a regular basis because students will be growing up and working in a technological world. As a teacher I can help them learn the value of technology and how it can open up the world for them. I may not be able to take my students to the zoo or the White House but I can take them there on the computer. I may not be able to fully explain far away places like Antarctica but I can show them on the Smartboard. Technology will allow me to offer an education beyond the classroom environment while staying in the classroom.
I loved the Ipods they students used in the clip. These were great tools for students to use to measure, calculate, and record. The digital portion of the classroom was fantastic. I loved the way that the students used them because that is exactly what they will run into when they get older. The days are long gone where pens and paper are the only way to be successful in school. I'm excited to be a teacher and use all of this in my classroom. I think it's amazing to see that students can use this technology and be innovative in the classroom. I look forward to my classroom to be innovative and use all types of technology to show that pens and paper are overrated. I want my classroom to be hands on and a whole lot more technology knowledgable than other classrooms.
ReplyDelete1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteThe types of technology that I found interesting in this video clip were the use of the interactive board and the QR codes. I liked all of the technlogy but, these two were my favorite. I would use the interactive board to take attendance in the morning. I would have the students drag their name to their seat on a chart displayed on the board as they entered the room. I would also use the interactive board as a tool during my lessons in an attempt to make my lessons more engaging and fun. Additionally, I would use the QR codes as a daily tool. I would have a daily math problem that the student would have to scan the QR code to find out what the problem is. They would, then, have to solve the problem.
2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
We, as teachers, should try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction because technology is dominating today's society. In order to make information meaningful and relevant to students and increase our teaching success, technology must be an integral part of our curriculum. Technology provides students with an endless amount of resources that they should not be deprived of, especially when these resources are most likely a part of their daily lives.
The most interesting piece of technology that was included in the clip is Skype. It was not until this semester that I ever considered how beneficial this could be in the classroom and to our students. I love the fact that Skype allows you to connect with other people and places around the world. Skype allows you to take your students to places and speak with individuals that they may not otherwise have the opportunity to. Skype is a great way for your class and students to interact with students in other classes and other schools. I believe that this is a wonderful tool to incorporate into the classroom and engage your students.
ReplyDeleteI believe that as teachers in today's classroom it is our job to incorporate as much technology into our classrooms as possible, and not be afraid to do so. Technology is everywhere. These students have been brought up around technology and it is an important part of our society, so why wouldn't we make it a part of the classroom. There are many different types of technology that are all beneficial in given students new ways to learn and research information. I believe that in today's schools it is hard to get students engaged and active in what they are learning and this is one way to achieve that.
Basically all of the technology that I saw in this video was interesting and could be used. For example, QR codes would be an easy way to get morning work to the students for right when they walk in, or at the end of the day to get the homework assignment, using the recording app on tablets so you could record a student while they read for fluency, and using Skype. Before this semester, I would never have thought of using it, but it does offer such a unique way to connect with those outside the classroom.
ReplyDeleteWe as teachers have to incorporate all the technology we can. Every piece of technology is a great asset and tool to use in everyday classrooms. Kids are surround by it everyday in their normal lives so it only makes sense to incorporate it within the class as well. It can provide a fun and interactive way to learn for the kids. Like Eric said in the video, they learn without realizing they are learner and that's an amazing thing. I feel like we need to do all we can to ensure that every one of our students succeed, and integrating technology in the classrooms is a huge step in the right direction for that!
All of the technology I saw in these videos were so interesting and ultimately very important in the classroom. My favorite would have to be the iPads. iPads can be used for so many different things. You can download an app for just about anything, educational games, and if you plan on using QR codes in your classroom, you'll need a scanner. I also loved the Skype idea. This can also be accessed on the iPad, and can be used to connect with people that you may have otherwise never even known about.
ReplyDeleteStudents in today's society are constantly surrounded by technology and in order to keep them engaged in the classroom, teachers need top be integrating some type of technology daily. If it takes technology to keep the students engaged and succeeding, then I think every teacher needs to be incorporating and utilizing any and every piece of technology they can.
I really liked all of the technology I saw in the video. I thought it was very interesting how you could incorporate that much technology in your class to help the learning environment. I really loved in the first video where they let the students use the iPod to practice their sight words. That was very neat and a great way for students to work on them. I also really liked how the teacher used the iPads in his classroom for them to do most of their work. I really liked the QR code starter. I could really see myself using technology like this in my future classroom. I would like to use it in similar ways as these teachers, but probably not plan on it as much because some schools may not have the funding to provide all of those devices.
ReplyDeleteI think it is very important to use technology in the classroom. In today's society everything is technology based. Everyone spends countless hours using technology without realizing it. If you incorporate technology in your class it will get the students involved more and they will be more likely to go home and try to do what was done in class at home and continue their learning.
I liked the use of the smart board. It allows the students to interact more. I have seen a lot of smart boards in the classrooms and the students are fond of them. The teacher is able to type out everything ahead of time and pull up different screens when teaching. The smart board is also good because teachers do not have to keep rewriting everything. With a regular write board once you erase, everything is gone, but not with a smart board. Teachers need to add more technology because the world is full of it. Every day we encounter or interact with some type of technology. If we as teachers introduce it to students early it would ultimately benefit the student. Infusing technology will show students different ways to research things. Students can even reach out to other students across the world. Being well rounded and intergrading technology will only better our students and ensure a brighter future for them.
ReplyDeleteThe iPad and the Smartboard are my favorite technology tools to incorporate in the classroom. The iPad can serve many purposes with it's app and web surfing abilities. The Smartboard serves as an interactive tool for the classroom and provides opportunity for each learning style to absorb information. As if these gadgets weren't useful enough on their own, they also are compatible in that students can communicate with the interactive board through their iPads. The possibilities are endless with technology in the classroom as most apps and websites are free to use and technology is advancing. Because technology is advancing, this gives us all the more reason to incorporate it into the classroom. People are beginning to learn through technology as they communicate through social media, and are available to unlimited information through the web. The classroom needs to stay up to date with the world and the way that it is advancing, and this is why we should incorporate as much technology as possible into the classroom.
ReplyDelete1. Which types of technology did you find interesting on this video clip and HOW could you see this type of technology used in your classroom?
ReplyDelete- The listening to the book on the iPod while reading along. This could help students who need a little more help with reading. They are able to help vocabulary words they may not know how to say or pronounce and this would help them it could also help English Language Learners.
- The measurement app: could help students learn how to read a ruler properly and give them extra help and practice on how to use one.
2. Why should we as teachers try to infuse as much technology as possible in our daily instruction?
- We as teachers should infuse as much technology as possible because technology is advancing in the world around us everyday. We want to prepare students and ourselves on how to use them every single day. We want the students to be able to keep up with the world as they are growing.
